Coronavirus and Belgian Bike Tours

Updated; 25 March 2020

Belgian Biketours keeps a close eye on developments related to coronavirus (COVID-19). We follow the information of the RIVM in the Netherlands, the advice of the Belgian government and are in close contact with the ANVR (the trade association for travel companies in the Netherlands) and our local representatives. Some answers to frequently asked questions can be found below.

Can I still go on vacation?

In the current circumstances, our cyclists can no longer enjoy their booked trip and are increasingly no longer able to enter the country of their holiday. Far-reaching measures have been introduced in Belgium, currently in force until 5 April. However, anyone who looks realistically at the developments in the world knows that the chances of you being able to go on a cycling holiday in April or May are zero.

For this reason and to give you clarity about your trip as soon as possible, we have decided to cancel all trips of Belgian Biketours with departure until 31 May 2020. We will contact you on a short period of this subject or have already contacted you.

If your trip is cancelled, you will receive a voucher from us with the paid travel price that allows you to book a new trip at a later date. The voucher is valid for one year from the time of issue and can be used for all trips of Belgian Biketours, Dutch Biketours or Fietsrelax with departure before 31 December 2021. We will contact the customer within three weeks about how the voucher is made available. You do not need to contact us about this yourself.

Refunds not possible

We understand very well that you may prefer to return the paid travel sum. However, the circumstances are so exceptional that we have chosen an exceptional solution. This solution was drawn up in consultation with the trade association ANVR and the guarantee fund SGR guarantees the voucher.

I booked a trip with departures after June 1. Is my journey going on?

At present:

As long as there is no negative travel advice for the holiday destination, everything will continue after 1 June. However, developments continue to follow each other rapidly. We try to clarify whether or not your trip will continue 4-6 weeks before departure.

I booked a trip. Can I cancel this one?

If there is a negative travel advice for Belgium within six weeks of departure, you will have the opportunity to book your trip to a later date in 2020 or 2021. The cost of any visas and vaccinations cannot be declared at Belgian Biketours. A travel and/or cancellation insurance may want to reimburse them. That varies by insurance. If you want to rebook or cancel while there is no negative travel advice, the regular Belgian Biketours cancellation conditions will apply.
