Coronavirus and Belgian Bike Tours

Updated; 19 May 2021

Belgian Biketours keeps a close eye on developments related to coronavirus (COVID-19). We follow the information of the RIVM in the Netherlands, the advice of the Belgian government and are in close contact with the ANVR (the trade association for travel companies in the Netherlands) and our local representatives. Some answers to frequently asked questions can be found below.

Can I go on holiday?

We can operate our cycling holidays. Hotels are open.
We expect restaurants and attractions to be open this summer but with reservation only to avoid large crowds. Face masks are mandatory in public transport and all public buildings (shops, museums etc.).

The situation for trrips which cross borders with the Netherlands, Germany, France and Luxembourg can be different, as each country has different rules, but we plan to operate these trips as well if possible.

Even if your trip continues, life will be different than before, including your cycling holiday. The hotels, restaurants, museums and all other local businesses should take into account the measures that apply in the respective countries. Do I have to wear a face mask, with how many people can I cycle together, can I have dinner at the hotel? All questions that can differ per month and destination. We try to inform you as best as we can about the measures at your destination in the travel documents. We recommend that you also prepare yourself well for your trip. What measures apply in the countries I will visit? It might be useful to reserve all the restaurants in advance. Or book half board. Do you have attractions that you would like to visit, check online whether you should already reserve an entrance ticket.

If you plan to travel to Belgium and you will stay onger than 48 hours in Belgium, you are required to fill in a Passenger Locator Form. See for more info https://travel.info-coronavirus.be/

I booked a trip, but am not able to travel due to travel restrictions. Can I cancel my trip?

If you are willing and able to travel, then we can operate your cycling trip in Belgium.
However if you are not comfortable travelling at the moment and want to rebook to a later date, we would be happy to discuss the options of rebooking with you.

For hotel tours we offer the possibility of cancelling your trip free of charge due to covid-19 reasons until 14 days before the start of your trip.

If you are unable to travel due to a negative travel advice from your government, you will have the opportunity to book your trip to a later date or cancel free of charge, if it's an indvidual hotel trip.
For group bookings (min. 5 rooms) other cancellation and change terms can apply.

If you have to cancel your holiday during your cycling trip due to the corona situation, any additional costs you make to get back home or the starting point of your trip
(eg costs for public transport or a taxi) are at your own expense. We are of course always available by phone for advice.
Also costs of any visas, vaccinations or covid-19 tests cannot be claimed at Belgian Bike Tours. Travel and / or cancellation insurance may want to reimburse certain costs. That differs per insurance.

Who covers the cost when I get sick while traveling?

Travellers who unexpectedly fall ill during their holidays can apply for their health insurance and travel insurance.
